4-Chloro-1,3-thiazole-5-carbaldehyde is a heterocyclic compound that yields a variety of products when reacted with different reagents. It can be oxidized to the corresponding quinolinium salt, chlorinated to give a chlorothiazole, or reduced to an amine. 4-Chloro-1,3-thiazole-5-carbaldehyde is also susceptible to nucleophilic substitution reactions with amines and triethyl orthoformate. This chemical has been shown to react with alkenes in the presence of a base, resulting in the formation of cyclic ethers.
