Calcium ionophore A23187 is an ionophore that binds to calcium ions, which then disrupts the membrane and inhibits cell function. Calcium ionophore A23187 has been shown to be effective in inducing apoptosis in human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and also as a model system for studying the apoptosis pathway. This drug has inhibitory properties against a wide range of natural compounds and pluripotent cells.
