2-Chlorobenzo[d]thiazol-6-amine is a conjugate of 2-chlorobenzothiazole and 6-aminonicotinic acid. It is scalable, which means that it can be synthesized in large quantities. This compound interacts with the protease enzyme at the active site, thus inhibiting its activity. 2-Chlorobenzo[d]thiazol-6-amine has been shown to be a bioluminescent substrate and has been used for detection of proteases in living cells. The compound also yields high efficiencies due to the cyanation reaction, which is catalysed by the enzyme cytochrome P450 reductase. The luciferin moiety has been shown to be a meaningful reporter molecule for this reaction because of its low cost and easy purification procedures.
