Descrizione

2-Chloro-3-ethylpyrazine is a synthetic organic compound that is used as an analyte for gas chromatography. The 2-chloro-3-ethylpyrazine compound is not found in natural products, but can be prepared by the chlorination of 3-ethylbenzaldehyde with hydrochloric acid. It can also be synthesized from 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and ethyl nitrite. 2-Chloro-3-ethylpyrazine is used as a coating for solid phase microextraction (SPME) fibers to aid in the collection of volatile compounds from air or other gases. Gas chromatography (GC) analysis of 2-chloro-3-ethylpyrazine has been shown to be useful in the detection and identification of ethanol in samples. This artificial chemical is used as a solvent for some analytical coatings on SPME fibers, which are then used to extract volatile compounds from air
