3-Cyano-4-isopropoxybenzoic acid is an industrial chemical that is used in the production of formaldehyde. It has been shown to be toxic and carcinogenic, with a LD50 of 5.5 mg/kg body weight when administered orally to rats. 3-Cyano-4-isopropoxybenzoic acid can also be used as a precursor for the production of other chemicals, such as acetone cyanohydrin, which is used in the synthesis of nylon. 3-Cyano-4-isopropoxybenzoic acid has a cyano group at position 4 and an aldehyde group at position 3, making it a formyl compound. The formyl group contains two carbons and one oxygen atom, while the cyano group contains two carbons and one nitrogen atom. The formyl groups are converted into formaldehyde, which is then converted into other chemicals through various reactions.
