Descrizione

Cerium (IV) sulfate tetrahydrate is a compound that has an activation energy of 8.7 kilojoules per mole. The chemiluminescence method is used to measure the oxidation products of this compound. Hydrogen ions are needed for the reaction to take place and they are supplied by the acid catalyst. Cerium (IV) sulfate tetrahydrate has been shown to have antibacterial efficacy against Enteromorpha intestinalis and Escherichia coli, among other bacteria. The reaction mechanism is not well understood, but it is known that cerium (IV) sulfate tetrahydrate reacts with methoxyl groups on enteromorpha intestinalis and Escherichia coli, leading to cell death.
