Cobalt(IV)sulfide is an inorganic compound that has the chemical formula CoS. It is a dark brown powder with a density of 6.6 g/cm3. Cobalt sulfide is found as an impurity in many other compounds, such as perchlorates, chlorates, and chromates. The tabulation of experimental values for cobalt sulfide was performed by the registry in 1931 and it was found to have a melting point of 832°C. This experiment was conducted using the experimental data from various sources and the chemical formula of CoS.
