Coumarin-6-carboxaldehyde is an optical, s. aureus, hydrogenated, methylating, aldehyde that has been shown to be antibacterial against staphylococcus and other bacteria. It is used in the synthesis of thiosemicarbazide and as a red fluorescent dye. Coumarin-6-carboxaldehyde has been crystallized in the form of its keto acid or its ester with various acids. Coumarin-6-carboxaldehyde's fluorescence can be used to detect DNA sequences in living cells. This compound's chromophore is 6-methylcoumarin.br>br>
