Descrizione

2-Chlorobenzenesulfonylisocyanate (2-CSIC) is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. It is soluble in organic solvents such as acetonitrile, ethyl formate, and tetrahydrofuran and can be purified by distillation. 2-CSIC has been shown to react with water to produce carbon dioxide and hydrogen chloride gas. A solution of 2-CSIC in trichloroacetic acid can undergo a phase equilibrium reaction with water, where it spontaneously decomposes into trichloroacetic acid and carbon dioxide. 2-CSIC also reacts with chlorides to produce chlorosulfonic acid.
2-CSIC has been shown to be a good reducing agent for heterocycles such as indoles, carboxylic acids, amines, and nitriles.
