2-Chloro-5-fluoro-4-pyridinamine is an antiviral agent that inhibits the production of nucleic acids and virus replication. It has been shown to be effective against hepatitis B virus, influenza A virus, and cytomegalovirus. 2-Chloro-5-fluoro-4-pyridinamine is also a potential anticancer agent that has shown significant cytotoxicity in vitro. This compound is an analogue of 3 deazaguanosine, which is a potent antiviral agent and potential anticancer drug. 2CFP has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein in cells by competitively inhibiting enzymes involved in nucleotide metabolism.
