4-Cyclohexylbutyric Acid is a phenylpropionic acid, which is a fatty acid. It can be found in the form of its sodium salt, 4-cyclohexylbutyric acid sodium salt. This product has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may be useful for the treatment of metabolic disorders. 4-Cyclohexylbutyric Acid appears as a white solid that is soluble in water and organic solvents such as acetone, ether, or chloroform. The chemical structure consists of a hydroxyl group and carbon chain that contains four carbons and one cyclohexane ring. This product can also be found in feedstocks such as naphthenic oil, which comes from a variety of crude oils. In addition, 4-Cyclohexylbutyric Acid has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC).
