1-(Chloromethyl)-4-phenoxybenzene (1-CPB) is a nucleophilic reagent that is used in the synthesis of pleuromutilin derivatives. 1-CPB reacts with chlorides to form chloroalkylphenols, which are then hydrolyzed to yield phenolic acids.
