Chlorodicyclohexylborane is a colorless liquid that reacts with amines to form enolates, which are intermediates in many organic reactions. Chlorodicyclohexylborane is also used as a catalyst for organic syntheses. This chemical has not been found to be harmful to humans or the environment, but should be handled with caution because it is toxic by inhalation, ingestion and skin contact. Chlorodicyclohexylborane can be made by reacting borane with cyclohexene and hydrochloric acid. It can also be prepared by the reaction of trifluoroacetic acid with chlorosilanes.
