1-Chloroprop-1-ene is a chlorinated hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CHCl. It reacts with water vapor to produce hydrochloric acid and hydrogen chloride gas. This reaction can be used to test the activity of 1-chloropropene. The phosphotungstic acid method is a colorimetric assay that uses phosphotungstic acid as an indicator that changes from yellow to green upon reaction with 1-chloropropene. The adsorption method uses sodium carbonate as a reactant, which produces carbon dioxide gas and sodium chloride crystals upon reaction with 1-chloropropene. The Friedel-Crafts reaction is a chemical reaction where an unsaturated compound reacts with an alkyl halide in the presence of a metal catalyst, such as palladium or platinum, to form an alkyl substituted aromatic compound and hydrogen chloride gas. In this case, it results in the formation of chlorobenzene and hydrogen chloride gas.
