4-Chlorophenyl glycidyl ether is a polycarboxylic acid that reacts with epoxides and aliphatic hydrocarbons to form polyepoxides. It has a viscosity of about 0.4-1.0, which makes it more reactive than the other polycarboxylic acids. 4-Chlorophenyl glycidyl ether reacts with organic acids to form esters, and with hydroxyl groups to form an ether. The reactive group of 4-chlorophenyl glycidyl ether is its epoxide group, which can react with monomers and c1-c4 haloalkyls to form polymers. This polymerization can be done by free radical or cationic polymerization methods. The functional groups of this compound are the epoxide group, hydroxyl group, and aromatic hydrocarbon ring.
