Calcium glycerophosphate hydrate is a calcium salt of glycerophosphoric acid. It is an additive that is used in the production of methyl ketones and as a sequestrant to prevent the precipitation of metal ions. Calcium glycerophosphate hydrate has been shown to inhibit viral replication and can be used to treat virus infections. It has also been shown to have clinical use in the treatment of influenza, with primary amines binding to the virus's hemagglutinin, preventing it from attaching to host cells. Fluorescence spectrometry has also been used to identify influenza virus-infected cells and antibodies against influenza viruses using this compound as a marker.
