Cyanine dye 5 triethylamine salt is a fluorescent probe that can be used for the detection of cell nuclei and mitochondria. This compound has been shown to react with mouse monoclonal antibody in a subcutaneous tumor model system. It binds to calcium ions and is activated by reactive oxygen species. Cyanine dye 5 triethylamine salt has been shown to have high specificity in cancer tissues, but not in healthy tissues.
