Cbz-cyclohexyl-L-glycine is an aminoalcohol that is used as a process development and optimization tool. It is a substrate for proteases, which cleave the peptide bond at the C-terminal end of the molecule. Telaprevir (TPV) is an inhibitor of this enzyme, which inhibits the activity of various viruses, including hepatitis C virus (HCV). TPV is currently undergoing clinical trials for HCV treatment. The TPV molecule can be synthesized by attaching cbz-cyclohexyl-L-glycine to TPV's amide group. This product has shown potential as an antiviral agent against HCV and other viruses.
