Descrizione

3-(2-Chloroethyl)benzimidazolidin-2-one is a synthetic drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is an analog of sildenafil, but instead of acting as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, it acts as a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Tadalafil has high selectivity for the PDE5 enzyme and does not inhibit other phosphodiesterases. The drug increases blood flow by inhibiting the activity of PDE5, which breaks down cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. Tadalafil is available as tablets for oral administration in doses of 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg.
Tadalafil can be detected using spectrometry techniques such as mass spectrometry or diode array detector (DAD). It can also be quantified using liquid chromatography or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
