4-Chloro-6-methoxypyrimidine is a dihedral molecule with a hydrochloric acid group. This drug is also used for the treatment of multidrug resistant bacterial infections, including methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). 4-Chloro-6-methoxypyrimidine has been shown to bind to DNA and RNA, inhibiting cellular growth and replication. The stability of this drug has been demonstrated using stable complexes formed with halides such as chloride or chlorinating agents.
