- 4-Chlor-3-fluorpyridin
- Pyridine, 4-chloro-3-fluoro-
4-Chloro-3-fluoropyridine is a reactive chemical that has been used as an acid catalyst in organic synthesis. It is also used as a precursor to pyridones and n-oxides. Cross-coupling reactions involving 4-chloro-3-fluoropyridine are most commonly carried out using palladium catalysis. This compound is not active towards amino acids or halides, but can be used for the preparation of carbon-carbon bonds when coupled with a nucleophilic reagent. 4-Chloro-3-fluoropyridine will react with alkyl halides, ketones, or phenols in the presence of base to form carbon-carbon bonds. The reaction has been shown to have kinetic control and can be optimized by conformational changes induced by the catalyst.
