2-Chloro-N,N-diethylacetamide is a fatty acid that has the ability to form stable complexes with inorganic and organic pollutants. It is frequently used for wastewater treatment. 2-Chloro-N,N-diethylacetamide can be used as an alternative to other chemical treatments, such as hydrochloric acid (HCl). This compound has been shown to inhibit the efflux pump of bacteria cells by competitive inhibition. 2-Chloro-N,N-diethylacetamide also has a protein target that is important in the biological process of energy efficiency. The inhibitory effect of this compound on protein synthesis may be due to its ability to bind with cytosolic proteins and interfere with their function. The chemical structure of 2 chloro N,N diethylacetamide can be observed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy at different temperatures.
