Cefuzonam is a cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. Cefuzonam blocks the cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains and prevents cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. It is used for the treatment of microbial infections in humans and animals, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, endocarditis, peritonitis, septicemia, meningitis, and gonorrhea. Cefuzonam has shown high resistance in some cases; however it is still effective against many bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae (Hib), Enterobacter aerogenes (E. coli), Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae (gonorrhea), Proteus mirabilis
