2-Cyano-5-methylpyridine is a chiral, gaseous compound that is a derivative of 4-cyanopyridine. It can be synthesized by the ammonolysis of 2-amino-5-chloropyridine with ammonia and hydrochloric acid in the presence of a catalyst.
