1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxybenzene is a chemical that is used as an additive in food and beverages. It is also a precursor to the drug Covid 19, which was used during the pandemic of 2009. 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxybenzene has been shown to be toxic to rat primary hepatocytes in vitro. This toxicity is likely due to the ability of this chemical to cause peroxisome proliferation and induce oxidative stress by generating hydrogen chloride and oxidation products. 1-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxybenzene is also able to deprotect malonic acid with hydrochloric acid. This reaction yields covid 19, which possesses antihelminthic properties. The molecular modeling of 1-choro 2,5-dimethoxybenzene shows that it has a redox potential of -0.14 V in acidic solution and -0.06
