Chloromethyldimethylphenylsilane is a chemical substance that is used as an impurity in the synthesis of cholesterol. It is also used for the preparation of other chemical substances, such as hydroxyl groups and silicon. Chloromethyldimethylphenylsilane is made from chloromethylphenylsilane and phenyllithium with phosphorus pentoxide as the catalyst. The preparative method involves reacting chloromethylphenylsilane with hydrochloric acid to yield chloride and methyldichlorosilane. This product has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties.
