Descrizione

Capreomycin is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of aminoglycoside antibiotics. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other species of mycobacteria. Capreomycin has been shown to be effective against resistant mutants with mutations in the 16S ribosomal RNA gene and in the 23S ribosomal RNA gene, as well as against isolates with mutations in the rRNA genes. The drug is not active against cells that are resistant to kanamycin or amikacin.
