Descrizione

The cucurbitacin B is a natural compound that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It has been shown to cause apoptosis in human breast cancer cells by inducing the release of pro-apoptotic proteins, such as p53. The mechanism of action is not fully understood and may be due to the inhibition of protein synthesis, induction of reactive oxygen species or interference with DNA replication and repair. Cucurbitacin B has also been shown to inhibit squamous cell carcinoma in mice by causing apoptosis.
