3'-Chlorophenylacetylene is an organic compound that is used in the production of styrene via a macroinitiator. 3'-Chlorophenylacetylene reacts with azides to form diazo compounds, which are then hydrolyzed to produce terminal alkynes. These terminal alkynes can be dehydrogenated to produce acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate. The compound can also react with silicon to produce organometallic complexes. 3'-Chlorophenylacetylene is commonly analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
