It has been shown to be an electrophilic, which reacts with nucleophiles such as chlorine. 2-Chloro-4-(Trifluoromethyl)Aniline was used in the synthesis of anticancer drugs such as doxorubicin and daunomycin. This compound has also been used as a reagent for the synthesis of cetylpyridinium chloride, a surfactant that can be used in micellar electrokinetic chromatography. There are some interferences when using this compound, such as the presence of chloride ions and other anions.
