Cupric tetrafluoroborate hydrate is a chemical compound that has the chemical formula Cu(BF4)2. It is made up of copper and boron with a carbonyl group, amines, and an aliphatic hydrocarbon. Cupric tetrafluoroborate hydrate is used in wastewater treatment to remove chloride ions from water. It can also be used as a plating additive to lower the energy needed for plating copper onto other metals. Cupric tetrafluoroborate hydrate is also used in analytical chemistry as an element analysis reagent because it reacts with oxygen to form copper oxide, which precipitates out of solution quickly.
