2,3-Dibromothiophene is a monomer that is used in the production of polymers. It has been found to be an effective cancer therapy agent and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. 2,3-Dibromothiophene has been observed to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by blocking the synthesis of nicotinic acetylcholine at the nerve terminal. This process prevents the release of neurotransmitters from nerve terminals and reduces neuronal activity. 2,3-Dibromothiophene also inhibits immune system cells such as B cells and T cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis.
