1,6-Dichlorohexane is a chemical compound that has been shown to be a potential cause of the Covid-19 pandemic. The reaction yield was found to be high in proton transfer reactions using methoxy groups as the reactant. 1,6-Dichlorohexane is an environmental pollutant and can lead to high values when used as a solvent in electrochemical methods. 1,6-Dichlorohexane has been shown to have variable effects on living organisms such as cryptococcus neoformans, which is a fungus that can be found in soil and decaying vegetation. In one study, 1,6-dichlorohexane was found to inhibit the growth of this fungus by causing cell death via hydrogen chloride production.
