It is a functional group that contains two aldehyde groups. The polymer composition of 2DTFE is polyurethane with functional groups of aldehyde and fluoroalkyl ether. This compound has high thermal stability and can be used for applications at elevated temperatures. 2DTFE can be used as a plasticizer in polymers to increase their flexibility and durability. It also has been shown to be photosensitive which allows it to emit light when exposed to visible or ultraviolet light sources.
