Betamethasone sodium is a long-acting corticosteroid that can be administered as a controlled-release preparation. Betamethasone sodium is also used in ionotropic gelation, which is an analytical method for measuring the release of betamethasone from a hydrogel matrix. The procedure involves the measurement of changes in electrical impedance, which are related to the release of the drug from the hydrogel.
