2,4-Dichloro-3-cyano-5-fluorobenzoic acid (2,4DCFBA) is an organic compound that is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals. It has low temperature and condition requirements for use. 2,4DCFBA reacts with benzoic acid to form 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid. This reaction is carried out using hydrochloric acid and layering techniques. The organic phase separates from the solution and can be collected by distillation or filtration.
2,4DCFBA is industrially important because it can be used to produce other chemicals such as adiponitrile, benzyl cyanide, and 2,6-dichloroaniline.
