3,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula CHClO. It is a colorless solid that can be prepared by heating 3,5-dimethylpyrrole with aqueous hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride. This compound is an herbicide that inhibits photosynthesis in plants by blocking the light reaction of photosynthesis. It also has herbicidal activity against broadleaf weeds such as ragweed and goosegrass.
3,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrrole-2,4-dicarboxylic acid is used as a solvent in certain industrial applications and as a raw material for the preparation of other chemicals.
