Di-tert-butyl hydrazine-1,2-dicarboxylate is an alkylation agent that is used in organic synthesis. It can be used to prepare a variety of triflates, halides, and estradiol. Di-tert-butyl hydrazine-1,2-dicarboxylate has been shown to react with functional groups such as vinyl groups and phosphines. This reagent is also bifunctional and can react with boronic acids to form a number of biaryl compounds. The reaction of this reagent with estrogen leads to the formation of substituted estrogens that have been shown to bind to estrogen receptors.
