Descrizione:

The tetradienyl-N-methylmethanaminium cation (TEM) is a molecule that is capable of binding to DNA and inhibiting the synthesis of RNA. TEM has been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on mammalian cells in vitro. The uptake of TEM by cells was found to be dependent on the presence of sodium citrate, which can act as a tethering agent for the molecule.

The potential use of TEM as an anticancer therapy is currently being investigated by researchers. This molecule may be used as a template for new compounds with anticancer properties, since it has been shown to inhibit cancer cell proliferation in vitro. It has also been shown to exhibit radiation sensitivity, which may make it useful in combination with radiation therapy.
