2,5-Dibromo-6-isopropyl-3-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone (DBMIB) is a photosynthetic electron donor that can be used in biochemical and physiological studies. It is a fluorescent compound that absorbs light in the blue region of the spectrum and emits light in the red region of the spectrum. DBMIB has been used as a model system to study electron transfer reactions in photosystem II and as a substrate for plant science experiments. This compound has also been used to study cytochrome P450 enzymes and Michaelis-Menten kinetics in chloroplasts.
