2,4-Diphenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrochromenyliumtrifluoromethanesulfonate (2,4-DPTH) is an aromatic amine that has been synthesized as a chloride salt. It has a number of applications in synthetic organic chemistry due to its ability to hydrolyze to the corresponding carbonyl or enol ethers. 2,4-DPTH can be used as a precursor for the synthesis of pyridinium salts and phenols. This compound also has mechanistic properties that are similar to those of benzoyl chloride and phenol. 2,4-DPTH is isomeric with diphenylmethane dibromide and diphenylmethyl bromide.
