Deoxyepinephrine is a neurotransmitter that occurs naturally in the brain and is released by nerve cells to regulate blood pressure, heart rate, and certain other bodily functions. It is used as a drug to treat low blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure. Deoxyepinephrine binds to adrenergic receptors on the atrial and ventricular muscle cells of the heart, stimulating them to contract. This drug also has an effect on the release of epinephrine from the adrenal medulla.
