2,2-Dimethylaziridine is an organic compound that contains a chlorine atom. It is a nucleophilic molecule that can react with hydroxide ions to form aziridine and hydrochloric acid. 2,2-Dimethylaziridine is used in the chemical industry as a reagent for removing organic impurities from water. The reaction of 2,2-dimethylaziridine with sodium hydroxide solution produces aziridine and sodium chloride (salt). 2,2-Dimethylaziridine can be used to inhibit the activity of Covid-19 pandemic and other related viruses by reacting with their RNA polymerase enzyme. The addition of a hydroxy group on its structure gives it the ability to inhibit the activity of several types of enzymes in the body.
