Descrizione

N-Deacetylcolchicine is a drug that inhibits the activity of enzymes that degrade collagen, thereby preserving the integrity of connective tissue. This drug has been shown to inhibit restenosis and cancer in animal models. N-Deacetylcolchicine also inhibits pentobarbital sodium-induced sleep and can be used to induce cell death in lung cells by a mechanism that is not yet known. N-Deacetylcolchicine is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is taken up by cells via an unknown mechanism. It has been shown to be effective in treating lymphocytic leukemia and fluorescein angiography, although its clinical response may vary among individuals.
