2,2-Diacetamido-propionic acid is a heterocyclic compound. It is produced by the reaction of acrylic acid and cysteine with benzyl chloride in acetylation. The product can react with halides to form 2,2-diacetamido-propionate salts. This compound can also be converted to hippuric acid by reacting with thiourea and carboxylic acids. The ligand in this compound has been shown to inhibit the binding of copper ions to proteins and enzymes.
