2,3-Dicyano-5,6-diphenylpyrazine is a trifluoroacetic acid derivative that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. 2,3-Dicyano-5,6-diphenylpyrazine exhibits fluorescence properties and can be used as a chemical tag. The unsymmetrical nature of the molecule makes it difficult to predict its properties using functional theory. 2,3-Dicyano-5,6-diphenylpyrazine has been shown to emit light when excited by metal ions or electric fields. This emission can be observed at wavelengths between 300 nm and 600 nm with a maximum at 450 nm.
2,3-Dicyano-5,6-diphenylpyrazine has also been shown to have an acidic pH and optical properties.
