Descrizione

Diethyl malate is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of l-malic acid. It is made from succinic acid and diethylamine, which are both petrochemicals. Diethyl malate has been shown to be a modulator of the enzyme transketolase and may also have potential as a substrate for other dehydrogenases. The biological activity of this compound has been studied in relation to its stereoselectivity and viscosity, which can be used to differentiate it from other similar compounds.
