3,5-Di(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid is a tetranuclear compound that can be synthesized by an efficient method. It has been used to study supramolecular chemistry and the interaction between organic solvents and amino acids. 3,5-Di(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid has also been used as an analytical tool in the analysis of prostate cancer cells and in the detection of acid impurities in pharmaceuticals. This substance is insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as n-hexane. The compound exists as two stereoisomers: cis and trans.
