N,N-Diethylbenzylamine is a solvent used in analytical chemistry. It is an amine that absorbs ultraviolet light and has a high boiling point. N,N-Diethylbenzylamine is used to prepare sodium salts of polycarboxylic acids, such as citric acid, by reacting with sodium carbonate. N,N-Diethylbenzylamine can also be used to prepare metal hydroxides by reaction with hydroxyl groups and nitrogen atoms. The molecule contains benzyl groups and methyl ethyl groups.
