This compound contains two methyl groups and one ethyl group on the central ring. 1-(2,5-Dimethyl-3-furyl)ethan-1-one exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonding due to its polarities and fatty acids, which may result in a red shift in the absorption spectrum. 1-(2,5-Dimethyl-3-furyl)ethan-1-one also exhibits hydroxide solution as well as dipole interactions with other molecules such as maltol.
